Pulled for publishing

I know I'm going to take a lot of heat for this; however, I cannot help it. I have very little writing time available to me as I am working full-time and returning to school to work on 2 advanced degrees. All simultaneously, I might add. With that said, I am pulling multiple stories for publishing. I have been reworking them and finally feel, along with several people that are in the know about such things, it is time to begin working on my own writing instead of working on fanfiction. This decision has been very hard for me, as I LOVE fanfiction and the community so very, very much. I, however, must do what is right for me, my family and my stories. I hope you understand, although I know a lot of you will not. It's unfortunate, but I'm ok with that.

Once a Marine by Cat Grant

Once a Marine

Discharged under Don’t Ask Don’t Tell, former Marine major Cole Hammond is struggling to find a new identity. But PTSD casts a pall on everything, and his hard-nosed, homophobic father can’t even bear to look him in the eye. To top it all off, he’s pretty sure he’s flunking out of law school.

Marc Sullivan is a kind, sensitive romance author-slash-waiter with a thing for men in uniform. Cole’s not wearing his anymore, but there’s no mistaking the warrior Marc meets in the diner one rainy afternoon. Cole’s sexy smile and Carolina drawl prove irresistible, but Marc’s played this game before, and he always loses. Once a Marine, always a Marine, and if there’s one thing Marc knows about such men, it’s that they all leave him in the end. It doesn’t help that Cole’s practically closeted in public, or that he refuses to seek treatment for his PTSD.

But like any good Marine, Cole’s willing to fight for what matters. And like the characters in Marc’s stories, he’s certain that if they try hard enough, together they can find their own happily ever after.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I loved this book, but was sort of disappointed that the author skipped the trip to North Carolina for Thanksgiving. I'm left wanting and curious as to what happened and that always bugs me. Otherwise it was a fabulous read and I adored the book.

The Admiral's Bride

When six canisters of Triple X (a nerve gas more lethal than anthrax or sarin) is stolen from a military testing lab, scientist Zoe Lange is brought to the Pentagon to work with the legendary admiral Jack Robinson, who is leading the investigation. To get the stolen canisters back and out of the hands of the dangerous men who took it, Zoe and Jack have a mock wedding and pretend to be a married couple in order to gain entry into the CRO (Chosen Race Organization) compound, where the Triple X has been stored. Although the wedding is fake, the attraction between Jake and Zoe isn't... and the longer they pretend to be a married couple, the more they realize how much they want to be together.

When Tony Met Adam

Suzanne Brockmann writes beautifully amazing characters - especially her exceptionally HOT heros - and she just released a new story in her Troubleshooter verse and it was a HAD TO HAVE NOW addition. What's the name of this awesomeness you ask?

Product Description (from Amazon)
An exclusive short story featuring characters from the Troubleshooters series

Tony Vlachic, a ruggedly handsome Navy SEAL, has kept his sexuality a secret for years under the threat of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.” That is, until he meets Adam Wyndham, a charismatic yet troubled film star. Tony knows that by approaching Adam in front of his teammates he’s jeopardizing his military career. And Adam, nursing a broken heart, has no interest in a relationship. Still, neither man can deny their instant attraction.

Tony didn’t become a SEAL by accepting rejection, and his pursuit of Adam leads to one unforgettable night. But the next morning, Tony is ordered to ship out to Afghanistan, and he’s forced to leave Adam with too much left unsaid. As Tony enters a dangerous war zone, Adam, back in Los Angeles, struggles with the demons of his past, while dealing with the very real possibility that Tony could be killed in action. Half a world apart, both men must face their feelings for each other—and decide if what they’ve found is worth risking everything in the name of love.

BONUS: This eBook includes an excerpt from Suzanne Brockmann's Hot Target.

Now, this story may not be for everyone, as it does contain guy-on-guy sex, but it's a beautiful story and I'd recommend it to everyone.  If you do try it out, let me know what you think.

Something new...

I've fallen head over heels in L-O-V-E love with my Nook App. The thought of having ALL my favorite books in my back pocket it such a huge turn on. So, I've been working on moving my personal library off my bookshelves and into the 21st century.

In the process, I've also fallen in love with actual books again and I've decided to add a little something new to my little corner of literary heaven and write up short, short reviews of my favorite books. I'll be including another love (aka photoshop) and I'll posting pictures of the characters as I see them. I love to be able to picture a hero/heroine in my minds eye.

So, be on the lookout for the very first recommendation/review.

Claiming My Place

AN: I know, I know. I've been hiding, but my muse deserted me, but she seems to have come back with a vengeance today. I've been working on the next chapter of Second Chance at Forever and then this just popped into my head. I had to take a break and get it down cause it was messing with SCaF.
I'm in love with Sons of Anarchy, but sometimes it really ticks me off. So this is just my take on what Tara should do. Picks up at the end of SoA 305.
I own nothing.

Claiming My Place
Lying in bed, stroking my belly just below my navel, I can't help but think of Jax. I know what he's doing and I know why. He's protecting me, but see the problem with Jax and his misguided notions is this. I'm his Old Lady and with Gemma out of the loop and chained to that hospital bed, I'm the head Old Lady around here and I refuse to let her down. Not to mention, refusing to raise this baby alone. Not only that, but everyone in Charming knew I was Jax Teller's Old Lady. Guess what that gets me without the family's protection? A great big fucking target on my back. The Chinese, the One-Niners, and the Mayans all know who I am and where to fucking find me. Not a good position to be in, in my opinion.

The Lion's Prey

Disclaimer: Queer as Folk is not mine unfortunately.
AN: I know, I know. Y'all are about to kill me. It's been over two months since I've posted anything. I suck and I apologize. Real life, a few rounds of the flu and now a respiratory infection and writer's block have just killed my muse.
This oneshot was meant to be a drabble. Just a few hundred words to get me going, but as I started writing, the words started flowing and well 1700+ words later and here we are. I hope you enjoy it.

The Lion's Prey
A Queer as Folk OneShot
Season 1 Episode 20
Set after Justin wins the King of Babylon contest.
His crown perched on his head proudly, he glides across the floor toward me, the sea of queers parting for him as they cheer his victory dancing to the thumpa thumpa.
"Did you see me?" He asks as he stops in front of me. The thrill of victory making him even more gorgeous than usual.
"Yeah, I saw you." I replied, nonchalantly. I refuse to allow him or anyone else to see how proud of him I am. How much his dancing turned you on and made you want to rip him off the stage and carry him out of there like a neanderthal.
"Well?" He asks, sticking out his chin, his eyebrows climbing up his forehead as he pushes for my approval.
Well, he's not getting it. I think. I can't give him that. It will only cement him to me even more. Instead, I respond with, "I think that contest was rigged."

A re-vamping of HoR!

So, for a while now, I've been contemplating my writing and this blog and with the recent rash of shit that's taken place on FanFiction, I've decided that I'm going to post all my stories here as well as there that way I won't lose them.

In addition to my Twilight stories I'll be posting my Queer as Folk stories here as well. That's right I'm now dividing my time between two fandoms and that's not an easy thing to do when you're raising a family. LOL! Thank God for my blackberry.

The name of the blog may also change. House of Rathbone was the perfect title when my heart was owned by the one, the only Jackson Rathbone, but with the discovery of Gale Harold aka Brian Kinney, I must make room in my heart, blog and life for the sexiness of Brian Fucking Kinney and his Sunshine boy. Hope y'all don't mind. LOL! (I'm sure you won't as there's no such thing as enough. Especially when talking about hot slashy goodness.)
